The Importance of Links

When Google and the other link building search engines are sending their spiders out crawling through cyberspace, they are looking for all kinds of info on everyone's website to try and figure out who has got the most crucial site so they can rank it, amongst all the other sites out there.

This is my knowledge of how it all works, from a non techie point of view, as follows.

They are focusing on relevancy as the major criteria, ie - is the content on the site relevant to the industry of the site, and if it is it gets a tick. If it isn't relevant then it isn't getting a tick, maybe even a black mark if it's not relevant in any way. Obviously it's important to build lots of relevant content into your site, and it's very important that the content is original, Google doesn't like duplicate content.

Links to and from the website are a major link development component they are looking at, and therefore obtaining links back to your site from other relevant sites is really imperative.

Exactly how do you accomplish this? Is it possible to easily get in touch with every one of the top sites, wish them a good day, and ask them to put a web link back to your new website? Hmmm, I don't think this is going to work really well, however you can't say for sure, no harm in asking.

There are nonetheless some definite methods that you may get links back, and it is crucial that you understand that not every link is equal in value. Search engines will put more credit on a link development from a high ranking website than it will from a very low ranking website. Naturally attempt to get backlinks from sites with higher ranking in the major search engines' eyes, and they'll help you a lot more.

Find a number of.gov or.edu sites that have blogs where you can post and leave a feedback together with your link back. But remember it needs to be highly relvant. It isn't really a simple task, finding these sites, yet advantageous to try and get a handful of, every link is definitely worth plenty of minor links. Your comments really should include some value, tend not to simply state something mundane similar to "excellent post".

Look for other peoples link building service blogs who have relevant subject areas to yours and post comments on their blogs, so long as it has "do follow" features (this means that they're not - "do not follow"- links which are no good to you). You can find blogs by searching together with your keywords and "blog" towards the end.
