Having a list isn't enough - a highly targeted subscriber list is just what anybody needs to make the most of their Internet business. You can either market your own products or affiliate products and be ensured of a good chance of success with a highly targeted list of email subscribers. However, with the proliferation of spam, consumers are very careful about giving out their email addresses.
The best way to get people on to subscribe to your list in the first place is to build a squeeze page (also called a landing page). There isn't much to a squeeze page - it is a page with headline and simple text that would simply allow visitors to register their name and email address on the blank fields. If a customer has some concerns they can also air them out on the squeeze page. Experienced online businesses create "Squeeze Pages" that detail what the subscriber will be receiving and the businesses privacy standards.
A squeeze page is not purely a web page that provides a capture form. Since a squeeze page captures names and email addresses, its main purpose, as you may know by now, is to generate not just any leads, but targeted leads. A squeeze page would initially draw a consumer's attention to a certain aspect of the main site, and ask him/her to opt in by filling out the form to get more details. Generally speaking, creators of squeeze pages do not include a generous amount of content - just enough to entice the viewers, nothing more. Usually no links to other pages as additional information could distract the user or cause them to navigate away to a different website.
The squeeze page's headline would be the very first thing visitors see when they browse onto the page, and its importance cannot be underscored. This is where you must captivate them with an attention grabbing headline which will compel them to continue reading your text. Your headline must clearly state what you are presenting and your copy must connect with your visitors on an emotional level.
If you design your squeeze pages right, expect conversion rates of up to 60% or even more. One cool tactic you could use would be to pair up squeeze pages with an email autoresponder, allowing you to send information to your visitors as soon as they confirm their email.
More people, ostensibly, would opt-in to your list if you are able to promise more details once their information has been confirmed, and deliver on the promise.
