One of the easiest ways to get started online is with affiliate marketing. Many people also tend to get stuck with the idea of marketing other peoples products. For example, how do you get someone to buy what you are promoting? How do you choose the right phrase to rank for in the search engines? How do you rank for that phrase? How do you increase your backlink indexing rate? Hopefully I can clear up some of this for you today by teaching you a super simple tactic.
To start with, it is important to remember the concept of so-called search based intent - the question why an individual is looking for a particular word or phrase. Before trying to rank for any word or phrase, it is vital to understand whether a person searching for it is likely to be looking for basic information or a specific solution they are willing to buy. Most individuals don't want to pay for simple information, but are willing to pay for solutions to possible problems. Getting this right is really about thinking from a searcher's point of view.
Bearing this concept in mind, the next step is to choose the product. This should be a welll researched product, so both the product and - most importantly - the problem it fixes can easily be written about. Step three is to write an informative article about the problem, how it is likely to affect readers and a detailed solution not using the product. This may sound wrong, but it allows the writer to then detail a much easier solution which involves using the promoted product.
The next step involves getting traffic. Whilst this can be done using pay per click traffic, I prefer to use SEO to generate organic traffic from the search engines. Personally, I find this to be more highly targeted, and much longer lasting without the need to lay down any costs.
Generally, I will submit a handful of high quality original articles to various online directories, and I may even write a press release for distribution through one of the many distribution services. You can also spread the word via social media, social bookmarking, or even follow a handful of the various methods of SEO that are available to be taught online.
As a final note, it should be made clear that affiliate marketing is a tricky, very much hit and miss affair. Only one or two out of every five campaigns are likely to be successful, at least to start with. With perseverance and practice, it becomes easier to understand what will actually induce individuals to buy a product. This leads to improved selection of relevant keywords, resulting in higher rankings. This in turn will produce greater numbers of successful runs and increasing back link indexing rates. Subsequent success rates will rise accordingly.
