It's perfectly normal for some businesses to find out that they need to expand and diversify themselves outside of Google. Google's most recent update release is called Penguin and, really, it's just the same thing on a different day. Obviously you're going to need to make your own decisions here. If you were only hit mildly (or not at all) why wouldn't you simply take care of the issues that you're facing? It is possible, though, to expand your marketing while still keeping Google happy.
Google has become quite masterful in its ability to cloud an issue with doubt, particularly upon those who are reliant upon the service for survival. If you hadn't yet learned, page ranking isn't exactly what people used to think it was. However, a lot of people believe that there has simply been a shift from page rank to something a little bit broader. That possible shift just focuses more on your entire business in the same way people perceive authority.
But it's not so much that as it is the quality of your marketing and what you offer. It looks like Google has potentially grown more serious about how important quality really is. This is why it is important for you to make sure that everything about your business is as good as it can possibly be.
Google has been making a major effort over the last few years to combat all of the different forms of spam that are online. This is different than the "traditional" notion of spam which is email bound. In this moment Panda and Penguin are focused on content spam--content and websites that are of the lowest quality.
This s probably pretty obvious to you if you have kept up to date but not everybody will have done this. Along with content spam there are obvious SEO concerns which is still spam in the form of link spam. Google labels anything, whether it is a backlink or a piece of content, that isn't up to par as spam. Perhaps those with a lot of experience are usually the worst when it comes to assuming people know more about what is being discussed than they really do know. You can think of that in terms of background information that has been learned elsewhere about Dean Holland or through experience.
There have been millions of people who caused great harm to their IM efforts because they just did not grasp the essentials and nuances of a method.
As we proceed with our talk about these strategies, bear in mind they are just the tip of the iceberg. Be forewarned as you travel in your journey because always suspecting there is something else that is part of the puzzle will keep you sharp.
The thing about not knowing is you do not know that your knowledge is incomplete, and so doing something like networking or joining a mastermind group can be extremely helpful.
No, Google has not reduced the value of anchor text in your backlinks unless you have overdone it. Where your off-page optimization is concerned, anchor text is still incredibly important.
Right now Penguin is still relatively new (at the time of this article's writing anyway) but that hasn't stopped people from reacting instinctively to it. It is important to remain calm and seek out some facts. You probably can't see just how many options you still have available to you with your anchor text. For proof, spend some time looking at your raw server logs; you'll see that the vast majority of the keywords people are using aren't those "high value" keywords you originally thought were so important. Making your sites impervious to Google Penguin is not hard to do. Some websites that were perfectly normal were hurt by the update, clearly showing that sometimes it's just going to happen. That is just the way it is with Google's updates. There are many more tips beyond the scope of this article that you should learn in regard to properly preparing.
