Internet Marketing Myths - What You Need to Know

There are so many untruths and ridiculous urban legends in the world of IM, or internet marketing. Once you get to the point where you can see something, about IM, and immediately know if it's crap information, or not, then you'll be better prepared to find your success. You should be aware of the following 3 internet marketing myths so you will be armed just a little more in your business.

One of the biggest Internet marketing myth is that you just need to build a website and you'll start seeing results. That could never be further from the truth, and it's dangerous because so many people seem to believe it. You have to realize that when you start off with your Internet marketing venture, you'll have to put in the efforts to drive visitors to your site and get exposure to it. No one will ever know your fabulous website even exists if you don't find a way to tell them about it. Should you be interested to be number one for your keywords in Google; then you will have to do the appropriate on and off page search engine optimization. Yes, it can be difficult to write about web business processes because you do not know how far to go with explaining everything. We remember learning about, Simon W, and it took a while plus gaining first-hand experience before we really felt comfortable with it.

So it can be assumed that incomplete knowledge on that will exist, and that just complicates the learning process.

So as you read on, we are making an assumption that you have some prior knowledge. Be forewarned as you travel in your journey because always suspecting there is something else that is part of the puzzle will keep you sharp. If you do not have a lot of experience, set up all you do with your marketing so you can see the results in some quantitative way.

There are perhaps close to a thousand secondary and less traffikked search engines on the web, yet people are told they need to register and get indexed in them. There are all kinds of search engines on the web, and they come in all kinds of sizes. As you may know, Google is still the 900 pound gorilla when it comes to search engine traffic volume. There's nothing stopping you from pursuing the smaller search engines, but you should look at it in terms of ROI, or cost effectiveness with regard to time spent versus returns on that. Even if you do manage to get registered with them and rank, there may not be significant traffic volume in these search engines when the majority of the people depend on Google, Bing, and Yahoo!. So instead of focusing your efforts on registering for that many small search engines, you should try and get ranked in the major ones. For very many, the big three provides all the traffic needed, which will not only be targeted but will also be convert well.

Finally, it is a huge lie that you have to have formal training in internet marketing in order for it to be successful. Yes, you will have to study, but this does not mean that you will need a degree in order to start an internet marketing business. You can just go online and read various articles for your information. The key to earning big money with internet marketing deals more with action than book sense.

These are just a very few internet marketing myths surrounding this industry. Always do research on anything serious or major you learn about, and get in the habit of trusting your gut. Keep learning and keep doing - always take action, and in time you'll be an old pro - like us.
