1. Targeting Keywords That Are Too Broad

Generally, people using broad terms like "medical" or "hospital" during a web search are looking for information or fishing for ideas, and aren't really all that interested in buying. Only people who are unsure of their goal will search using those keywords, and they're on their way to some other site. If you want to get good results you have to focus your keyword down to one that goes right along with your offer. If you stick to common keywords, there's no way you can find out if those people are interested in your offer or not, and most of the time, they are not. The keyword "hospital," to use our former example, produces 78,400,000 results in Google, but the narrower term "find a hospital" only has 249,000 results. As you can see, by using a narrower keyword, you will face less competition and only have visitors who are looking for something specific. A person searching with a narrow keyword know what they want to find. Think like your customer. If you were searching for your specific product, what would you type in the search engine?
2) Utilizing Google's Content Network to Display Your Ads
When you are working on your Adwords Strategy, be sure to focus on negative keywords as they can make your ads profitable. The incorporation of negative keywords into your advertising will decrease your expenses, and you will effectively zero in on those individuals who visit the landing page on your website. The way to use negative keywords is to place a minus sign (-) in front of the keyword. Using these words stops them from being seen by untargeted people, and ensure that only those who would be interested in seeing it can find it. There may be keywords related to ones you are using but will have no impact on your advertising. You can eliminate those keywords, keeping only the positive ones that truly relate to your campaign, so that you will more effectively target visitors, increase your conversions and decrease your losses.
