Search Engine Optimisation And Why We Need It

Around twenty years ago, the internet became really popular and since that time, it has changed life as we know it. Even though the internet had been around for quite a while, it was not really known about by the general public until the early nineties.

But over the last decade, whenever we need to find anything, we will all usually head to the internet before anything else. The reason for the surge in popularity of the internet has to be down to the fact that searching for information this way is a lot easier than looking through an encyclopaedia for example!

As more articles were written there was the necessity to rank the information. This was and still is through SEO search engine optimisation. The better the information, the more people wanted to read it and the higher up the ranking it would travel, meaning that the greater the popularity of an article the easier it would be to find it.

All articles these days should be written in such a way that they are interesting and informative to the visitor so they will rank highly. Getting your website to the first page of the search engine results is something that everyone wants. They want their details to appear if a reader types in the company name or a specific targeted keyword. So if you were looking for a particular shoe brand and you typed that name into the search engines, it would be expected that the company name would appear first and then maybe some other companies with those shoes in stock.

You could be looking to find information about a particular bird species and once you have typed the name into the search engine, you should get everything you are looking for. When it comes to the results in the search engines, the most relevant should be at the top but this is not always the case.

The three letters SEO means quite a lot to the companies that rely on the internet as their sole source of custom.
