Getting Started With On-Page Search Engine Optimization

On page SEO or Search Engine Optimization is simply a technique for making your website more appealing to search engines without losing integrity. Below are a few tips for effectively applying on-page SEO to your website.

The first thing you need to do is understand that success with on-page SEO will only happen if you use the right keywords. The average consumer will search and research using keywords which is why just about all that you will do in SEO revolves around your keywords. Because search engines often give a higher value to URLs when ranking websites it's important that your keywords be a part of your URL. If you are capable of obtaining a domain that includes your keyword you are one step closer to perfection. Using such a valuable domain name (if you can get it) means you will only need a couple of backlinks to get the job done. If you want to keep from dropping on the search engine results you will want to keep from preceding your domain name with anything but the keyword it's meant to be.

HTML tags, h1, h2 and so on, are your headline tags in the code, and you should have at least an h1 with the page phrase in it. All of the things you do are given a weight by Google, and of course it all adds up to a final score. The fact is, H-tags are given more weight than the other content on the page. A good approach is to have the H1 with your main keywords, and the subsequent H tags have secondaries. You can optimize your H tags in fifteen minutes, just be sure you write effective headlines and subheads. There is another important consideration which has to do with where you use any keywords.

You can have an authority site that is huge, but the overall site topic, or theme, is the one very large market.

What you will do is base your pages off of your keyword phrases. The content creation part is actually pretty easy after you know what each page will be about. Obviously you do not want to put something on your site that is off topic because it will hurt your efforts. Just make sure your structure and content is relevant to the purpose of your site and you'll be fine.

You may already know that this is just the start of what is needed for effective on-site search engine optimization. You can manage to get your site, or pages, to the top of page one, but it does take time and effort.
